Stress Less & Live MOre!

Mission

To be a chosen community of care for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) & Queer Folx, where a trauma-informed holistic approach to stress management equips all to STRESS LESS & LIVE MORE.

Vision

We envision a world where BIPOC & Queer Folx have the inherent knowledge and tools to practice self-regulation, self-healing, and self-preservation. Through the principles of yoga, Ayurveda, and community support black, brown & queer people are equipped to address stress and trauma in all forms. Together, we will reverse the oppressive hold of bigotry, homophobia, slavery, and the other racialized constructs within systematic and institutionalized systems. Additionally, we endeavor to educate and develop non-BIPOC & non-Queer allies in this work.

Core Values

At Haus of Ananda, our core values are the foundation of Ashtanga Yoga. These beliefs are the blueprint for how we as a chosen community of care show up and navigate the world.

Cause No Harm

Lead a life that doesn’t hurt other beings through thoughts, attitudes, words, or actions.

Be Disciplined Through The Discomfort

Stay faithful to the path of healthy thought and healthy action no matter what.

Speak The Truth With Integrity And Kindness

Before you speak, ask yourself, “Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? Does it improve upon the silence?”

Embrace Contentment In The Present

The ability to appreciate what you have in the present, rather than what you want in the future.

Knowing One’s True-Self If The Path To Liberation

Remain relentless on the quest of self-discovery.

Honor Boundaries By Not Coveting Nor Envying

Do not take what does not belong to you.

Purification Of The Mind, Body, And Environment

Practicing cleanliness supports the overall health and well-being of the community.

Surrender To The Divinity In One And All

I am love.

Create Balance Through Intentional Moderation Of Self

Exercising restraint enables us to see the divinity in all.

Meet Nevananda

Neville “Nevananda” Green is a NY-based certified Trauma-Informed Yoga instructor, Ayurveda advisor, and owner and founder of Haus of Ananda LLC. Birthed from his own inward yoga journey, “Nevananda” (Nev meaning “new” & “Ananda” meaning “bliss”) represents shedding the conditionings of the world in exchange for spiritual connection with all beings and Universal Source.

Identifying as a cis-presenting, black, gay, Afro-Caribbean American immigrant, I associate with many spheres of intersectionality but never felt fully accepted in any space. I was the only male, and one of two black identifying individuals in my yoga teacher training. This experience made it obvious to me that this search for inclusion would also be challenging to achieve in yoga and wellness spaces.

My mother passed away at the age of 61 from colon cancer, and my father, in his mid-40’s, fought and defeated leukemia. Meanwhile, I watched the aunts, uncles, and parents of my black and brown friends struggle with chronic heart diseases, diabetes, and other underlying health conditions that affected their quality of life, and disproportionately affected their battle with COVID-19. Many of these conditions are reversible, and in many cases avoidable, with healthier nutritional choices and adequate tools to manage the stress of being black, brown or Queer in a racialized & queerphobic society.

All this in mind, I started Haus of Ananda (HoA), a community of inclusion for black and brown indigenous people of color, for every body type, sexual orientation, culture, and creed, where we celebrate our differences and pay honor to the Divinity, which connects us to the same life-force. At HoA, we incorporate the time-tested wisdom of the Vedas and utilize Trauma-Informed Yoga and Ayurveda to address chronic stress and diseases in the BIPOC and Queer communities.

I welcome you to experience the “New Bliss” of your own journey and come to the Haus to STRESS LESS & LIVE MORE!
